Astrometry Desktop Editions: Offline Installation, Activation and Moving to a New Computer

23 October 2026

Astrometry Desktop Editions are lifetime licences for software that runs in your own browser and keeps working without an internet connection once it is set up. There is no installer file to download and nothing to unzip. This guide walks through the full setup, explains what works offline, and shows how to move your licence to a new computer if a device is replaced or lost. If you are still deciding between Online access and a Desktop Edition, read Online vs Desktop software first.

Before you start

  • A verified Astrometry account. The licence belongs to the named person whose verified account completes the purchase.

  • A supported browser on the device you will use. Chrome, Edge and Brave give the most complete installed-app experience. Safari on Mac and on iPhone or iPad can add the software to the Dock or Home Screen. Firefox keeps the software available offline after it has loaded, but does not offer the same installed-app window.

  • A normal browser window. Private or incognito windows forget their data when closed, so they cannot hold an offline licence.

  • A reliable internet connection for setup. Purchase, activation, release, replacement and updates all need to be online.

Step 1: Buy the edition you need

Each Desktop Edition is a separate lifetime product, and buying one does not unlock another. Open the software page you want, for example Numerology, DIY Vastu or Nadi/KP Astrology/Horary, and find its Desktop Edition licence box. Read and accept the Lifetime Licence Terms, then complete the purchase. If you use a valid coupon, the discounted amount is shown on the buy button before you pay.

If you need many tools, the Desktop Professional All-in-One package on the pricing page includes all 36 Desktop Editions under one purchase. Its terms are set out in the All-in-One Lifetime Licence Terms.

Step 2: Activate this browser

After payment is confirmed, click Activate this browser in the licence box. Activation binds a signed licence to this browser profile on this device. Each edition allows one active browser installation at a time, so activate the browser you actually intend to work in.

All-in-One owners can activate every included edition from the package box in one go; you will see a confirmation when all 36 editions are active in the browser.

Step 3: Install the app

Click Install app when your browser offers it. If no direct prompt appears, the licence box shows instructions for your browser:

BrowserHow to install
Chrome, Edge or BraveUse the install prompt, or open the browser menu and choose Install app
Safari on MacFile menu, then Add to Dock
Safari on iPhone or iPadShare button, then Add to Home Screen
FirefoxBookmark the page and open each licensed software once while online

Step 4: Prepare for offline use

While you are still online, open each software you have licensed once and let it load completely. This stores what the browser needs to run that software locally. When the licence box shows Offline access ready, disconnect from the internet and run one test calculation and one PDF download, so you know the setup works before you rely on it with a client.

What works offline

Licensed Desktop Editions run their calculations, reports and PDF exports locally on your device. An active Desktop lifetime licence gives unlimited full reports and PDF downloads for that product, without credits or pay-per-report prompts. Internet is still needed for anything that involves your account or a payment: buying, activating, releasing or replacing an installation, and receiving updates.

Online Tarot readings are a separate Online feature. The Desktop Tarot edition uses its own offline readings.

Your data stays in the browser

Saved Reports in a Desktop Edition are stored in that browser profile on that device. They hold the details you entered and the results, not photos. This keeps client data private, but it also means Astrometry cannot recover it for you. These actions can remove offline access and local work:

  • clearing site data or browsing history for astrometry.in

  • resetting or uninstalling the browser

  • losing, wiping or replacing the device

Download PDFs of reports you need to keep and store them in your own backup. The client practice workflow guide covers how to organise saved reports and branded PDFs for regular clients.

Moving to a new computer

Because each edition has one active installation at a time, moving to a new device is a two-part step: release the old installation, then activate the new browser.

  1. On the new device, sign in to your Astrometry account in a supported browser and open the software page, or the All-in-One package on the pricing page.

  2. Click Lost device or replace installation. You may be asked to confirm your sign-in first, as a security check.

  3. Choose the reason. Pick Replace installation if you still have the old device, or Device is lost if you no longer have access to it, then click Release and continue.

  4. Activate this browser on the new device, then install the app and complete Step 4 again.

Release is immediate. The old installation is disabled when it next connects to the internet, and you must stop using it even while it is offline. All-in-One owners can replace all 36 installations together from the package box.

Troubleshooting

I cannot see an Install app option

Check that you are in a normal window, not private browsing, and use the browser-menu steps in the table above. In Firefox, bookmark the page instead.

The software asks me to buy again on a new device

Make sure you are signed in to the same account that made the purchase. Your purchased licences are listed under My Orders & Software in your account.

Offline access stopped working after I cleared my browser

Clearing site data removes the local licence. Go online, sign in and click Activate this browser again. Previously saved local reports cannot be restored unless you kept your own PDF copies.

Licence terms in brief

The full rules for activation, offline use, updates and refunds are in the Desktop Editions Lifetime Licence Terms. A refund may be requested within seven calendar days of purchase only before an installation has been activated, except where the law requires otherwise. Compatible updates to your edition are included without another licence fee.

Get started

Browse the catalogue on the Astrometry Softwares page, choose the tool you use most, and set up its Desktop Edition on the computer you work from every day. For a tour of how the software itself works, see How to use Astrometry software step by step.
