How to Read a Bhavat Bhavam Report: House Strength, the Six Master Axes and the Verdict Matrix

6 November 2026

Bhavat Bhavam - "the house from the house" - is one of the oldest principles of Parashari astrology. A house is never read alone: to judge the 4th, you also look at the 4th from the 4th, which is the 7th; to judge the 10th, you look at the 10th from the 10th, again the 7th. The Astrometry Bhavat Bhavam software applies this rule to all twelve houses of your birth chart, scores both ends of every pair with fixed rules, and explains in plain language whether a life area has a solid promise and the follow-through to deliver it. Every calculation runs locally from your birth details; nothing is written by AI.

What you enter

You enter your name, date, time and place of birth. Because every house depends on the Lagna, a reliable birth time matters. If your time is uncertain, check it first with Birth Time Rectification, and keep your details ready using our guide on preparing birth details for astrology reports.

Your chart at a glance

The report opens with the chart itself: the Lagna, the sign in each house and the planets occupying it. Each planet is classified for your Lagna as a benefic, malefic, yogakaraka or neutral, and each carries a dignity - exalted, moolatrikona, own sign, friendly, neutral, enemy or debilitated, with combustion noted where it applies. These two facts, function and dignity, drive every score that follows.

How a house is scored

Each house receives a strength score built from four transparent steps, and the report shows the breakdown line by line so you can check it:

  • The lord's dignity. An exalted or own-sign lord starts the house strong; a debilitated or combust lord starts it weak.
  • Where the lord sits. A lord in a kendra or trikona (1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10) adds strength, a lord in 3 or 11 adds a little, and a lord in a dusthana (6, 8, 12) takes strength away.
  • Occupants. Each planet in the house adds or subtracts according to whether it is functionally benefic or malefic for your Lagna, adjusted by its own dignity.
  • Aspects. Planets aspecting the house add support (yogakaraka and benefics) or pressure (malefics and the nodes).

The total places the house in one of five tiers: Strong, Favourable, Mixed, Weak or Afflicted. The "House strength at a glance" table lists all twelve tiers together so you can see the shape of the chart in a few seconds.

Pairing each house with its Bhavat Bhavam

Next, every house is paired with the house the same distance away from it. The report states the principle behind each pairing in one sentence, for example:

  • 2nd to 3rd: money grows through effort and skill.
  • 4th to 7th: home comfort and property often arrive through other people.
  • 8th to 3rd: the 3rd is the 8th from the 8th - a second house of stamina.
  • 10th to 7th: the 10th is the work; the 7th is where that work meets people.
  • 12th to 11th: the 11th is the 12th from the 12th - loss can turn into gain.

The 1st house is its own Bhavat Bhavam, so the self is weighed twice: your vitality decides how freely the rest of the chart can be used.

The verdict matrix

Comparing the two scores gives every house one of five verdicts:

  • Both supportive - the house and its Bhavat Bhavam are both sound; the theme grows steadily and can be relied on when its dasha runs.
  • Promise but limited follow-through - the promise is real but results need outside support to last.
  • Weak start, later compensation - the start is modest, but other routes make up for it, often later or indirectly.
  • Persistent difficulty - both ends are under strain; a strong Lagna, benefic support and steady remedies help most.
  • Mixed / moderate - results depend largely on the dasha, transits and the karaka.

The karaka check

Each house also has a natural significator, or karaka: the Sun for the 1st and 10th, Jupiter for the 2nd, 5th, 9th and 11th, Mars for the 3rd and 6th, the Moon for the 4th, Venus for the 7th and Saturn for the 8th and 12th. The report states the karaka's dignity and house, because a strong house with a weak karaka - or the reverse - changes how the result is experienced.

The six master axes

Finally the report groups the houses into six axes that summarise the whole chart: 1 and 7 (self and relationship), 2, 8 to 3 (money and depth through effort), 3, 9 to 5 (skill and dharma through the mind), 4, 10 to 7 (home and career through others), 5, 11 to 9 (creativity and gains through fortune) and 6, 12 to 11 (struggle and loss seeking a result). Read these first if you want the big picture, then go house by house for detail.

Using the report with other tools

Bhavat Bhavam tells you what a house promises and whether it can deliver; timing comes from the dasha. Pair this report with Vimshottari Dasha and our explainer on how dasha periods work, or check house strength from another angle with Ashtakavarga. For a complete classical reading, see the Brihat Parashar Kundli report.

Online and Desktop

You can generate the report online, or install the Bhavat Bhavam Desktop Edition to calculate charts and download full PDFs offline. It is included in the Astrometry Desktop Essential package and every package above it - compare them on the pricing page or in the Software FAQ.
