    Source verses used

3.12-14 - Graha Guṇa Svarūpa - the nature of the planets

    Sanskrit verified

ravicandrau nṛpasamau, kujaḥ senāpatiḥ smṛtaḥ | budhaḥ kumārasadṛśaḥ, gurukāvyau ca mantriṇau ||

The Sun and the Moon are like kings, Mars is called the commander of the army, Mercury is like the young prince, and Jupiter and Venus are the counsellors.

Rule applied. Planetary karakatva - each graha is read as an office in the chart: soul and mind for the luminaries, courage for Mars, speech and intellect for Mercury, counsel for Jupiter and Venus, servitude and delay for Saturn.

    27.2-3 - Graha Bala - planetary strength

    Sanskrit verified

sthānabalaṃ digbalaṃ ca kālajaṃ ceṣṭajaṃ tathā | naisargikaṃ ca ṣaḍvargaṃ balamāhurmanīṣiṇaḥ ||

Positional strength, directional strength, temporal strength, motional strength, natural strength and the strength from the six divisions - the wise call these the sixfold strength of a planet.

Rule applied. Strength percentages shown against each yoga and each dasha lord are built from positional dignity, direction, time of birth, motion and natural order, in this classical sequence.

    46.5-9 - Vimśottarī Daśā

    Sanskrit verified

kṛttikādi trayā bhānoḥ, rohiṇyādi trayā vidhoḥ | āśleṣādi trayā saumye, maghādi trayā bhaumataḥ ||

Kṛttikā and the two stars following it belong to the Sun, Rohiṇī and the following two to the Moon, Āśleṣā and the following two to Mercury, Maghā and the following two to Mars.

Rule applied. The Mahādaśā at birth is the lord of the Moon's nakshatra; the balance is the unexpired part of that nakshatra multiplied by the lord's total years, and the whole 120 year cycle then follows the fixed order Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury.

    46.30-34 - Vimśottarī Daśā - sub periods

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. Antardaśā of planet B inside the Mahādaśā of planet A = (years of A × years of B) / 120. The same proportion applied again to the parent span gives Pratyantardaśā, then Sūkṣma and Prāṇa. Every level opens with its own lord and then follows the fixed nine-planet order.

    6.1-3 - Ṣoḍaśavarga - the sixteen divisions

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. Sixteen divisional charts are cast from the same longitudes: D1 Rāśi, D2 Horā, D3 Drekkāṇa, D4 Chaturthāṃśa, D7 Saptāṃśa, D9 Navāṃśa, D10 Daśāṃśa, D12 Dvādaśāṃśa, D16 Ṣoḍaśāṃśa, D20 Viṃśāṃśa, D24 Chaturviṃśāṃśa, D27 Bhāṃśa, D30 Triṃśāṃśa, D40 Khavedāṃśa, D45 Akṣavedāṃśa and D60 Ṣaṣṭyāṃśa.

11.1-14 - Bhāva Vivekaḥ - the significations of the houses

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. House by house significations: body and vitality, wealth and speech, courage and siblings, mother and home, children and merit, debts and disease, spouse and partnership, longevity, fortune and dharma, karma and profession, gains and network, loss and liberation.

12 onwards - Bhāva Phala - effects of the houses

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. Each house is judged by its lord's placement and dignity, by the planets sitting in it, and by the aspects it receives. A lord in a friendly house or in a kendra or trikona strengthens the matter; a lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th weakens it.

20-31 - Graha Bhāva Phala - a planet in each house

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. The report prints each of the nine grahas through each of the twelve houses, reading the planet's own nature against the house's significations and modifying the reading by dignity, retrogression and combustion.

    41.1-20 - Rāja Yoga Adhyāya

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. A relationship between a kendra lord (1, 4, 7, 10) and a trikona lord (1, 5, 9) - by conjunction, mutual aspect or exchange - forms Rāja Yoga. Strength is graded by the dignity of the two lords and by whether the connection is a full exchange.

    42.1-15 - Dhana Yoga Adhyāya

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. Wealth combinations are read from the 2nd and 11th lords with the 5th and 9th lords. Association of these lords in a strong house gives Dhana Yoga; their placement in 6, 8 or 12 gives leakage instead.

36.1-6 - Candra Yogas - Sunāphā, Anaphā, Durudhurā, Kemadruma

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. Planets other than the Sun in the 2nd from the Moon give Sunāphā, in the 12th give Anaphā, in both give Durudhurā, and in neither give Kemadruma.

35.1-4 - Sūrya Yogas - Vesi, Voshi, Ubhayachari

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. A planet other than the Moon in the 2nd from the Sun gives Vesi, in the 12th gives Voshi, and on both sides gives Ubhayachari.

4.1-20 - Rāśi Svarūpa and the birth chakra

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. The Avkahada Chakra records lagna and its lord, rāśi and its lord, nakshatra with pada and star lord, tithi, yoga, karaṇa, and the classical categories varṇa, yoni, gaṇa and nāḍī taken from the birth nakshatra.

    8.1-12 - Pañcāṅga Phala

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. The five limbs of the day at birth - tithi, vāra, nakshatra, yoga and karaṇa - each give their own reading, and are read before the houses because they colour the whole chart.

    81.1-8 - Kuja Doṣa - Mars affliction

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th from the Lagna, the Moon or Venus indicates Kuja Doṣa for marriage; classical cancellations apply when Mars is in its own or exalted sign, aspected by Jupiter, or matched in the partner's chart.

    43.1-25 - Ariṣṭa Yoga - afflictions

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. Malefics on the lagna, the Moon or the 8th house, and lords fallen in dusthānas, form the affliction set which the report reads as caution rather than verdict.

88.1-30 - Graha Śānti - pacification of the planets

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. Each graha has its own deity, mantra japa count, gemstone, metal, weekday, fast and charity. Remedies are prescribed for the weak or afflicted lord of the matter, never for a strong benefic.

    88.15-22 - Graha Śānti - ratna dhāraṇa

    Sanskrit pending

Rule applied. The lagna lord's gem is the life stone, the 5th lord's gem the lucky stone and the 9th lord's gem the fortune stone; a debilitated or combust lord is strengthened before an already strong one.
