Gemstones in Astrology: A Safe Starter Guide

Gemstones carry planetary colour and light. A weak but helpful planet can be supported with its stone. Blue sapphire supports Saturn. Yellow sapphire supports Jupiter. Emerald supports Mercury. Red coral supports Mars. Pearl supports the Moon. Ruby supports the Sun. Diamond or opal supports Venus. Hessonite supports Rahu. Cat's eye supports Ketu.

The Golden Rule

Strengthen the planets that help you. Never strengthen a planet that harms your chart. A stone for the wrong planet can increase trouble. This is why a chart reading comes first.

How to Choose

Ask three questions. Is the planet a benefic for your ascendant? Is it weak but well placed? Is its dasha running or near? If the answers are yes, a stone may help. Check the planet in your chart on our Kundli page first.

How to Wear

Buy a natural, untreated stone. Aim for good clarity over big size. Set it so it touches the skin. Wear it on the right day and finger. Start on the planet's weekday, in its hour. Clean it monthly. Try the stone for a trial period. If sleep, mood or health worsen, remove it.

Use our gemstone tool for a chart-based suggestion. It lists the stone, weight, metal and day for you.
