Face Reading Software: Photo Quality, Angles and What the Analysis Covers

18 October 2026

The Astrometry Face Reading software measures your face from a photograph using on-device landmark detection, then applies the traditional correspondences of face reading (physiognomy) to those measurements. Because everything starts from the photo, a few minutes of care at capture time decides how much the report can tell you.

The photo the software needs

  • Front-facing, level camera: hold the phone at eye level, directly in front of your face. A photo from below or above changes measured proportions.
  • Neutral expression: a smile raises the cheeks and narrows the eyes, which changes the measurements. Relax your face.
  • Even lighting: face a window or a soft light source so neither side of the face is in shadow.
  • Unobstructed face: remove glasses, pull hair back from the forehead and ears, and avoid heavy filters or beauty modes, which literally move facial landmarks.
  • Good distance: head and shoulders filling most of the frame, with the full hairline and chin visible.

What the analysis covers

The software divides the face into the traditional zones and features: forehead, eyebrows, eyes, nose, cheeks, mouth, chin and jaw, plus overall face shape and the balance between the upper, middle and lower thirds. For each, it reports the measured proportions and the traditional interpretation attached to them, so every statement in the report traces back to something measured in your photo.

What it does not claim

Face reading is a traditional interpretive art, not a validated science, and the software treats it that way. It does not infer health conditions, intelligence, honesty or destiny, and it should never be used to judge job candidates or other people without their consent. The report is a structured mirror of the tradition applied to your measurements, offered for self-reflection and interest.

Privacy and the Desktop Edition

Landmark detection runs entirely on your device; your photo is not uploaded for analysis. The Desktop Edition performs the complete analysis offline and unlocks full local reports and PDFs under its lifetime licence, while the online edition follows the standard pay-per-report and plan access.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an old photo?

You can, but a fresh photo taken to the guidelines above gives measurably better landmark detection. Old photos with filters, tilted angles or partial faces reduce what the software can measure.

Does it work for all skin tones and face shapes?

The landmark detection is based on a modern on-device vision model trained on diverse faces, and the measurement step is purely geometric. Even lighting matters more than any facial characteristic.
